So we gave in, yes another social networking site. Well, we didn’t want to feel left out, and in principle Pinterest sounds pretty tempting.
The genius concept encourages you pin images to online ‘mood boards’ to share with active worldwide users. I love mood boards as much as the next female, mid twenties, hopeful London artist; but something is telling me I’ll be planning my wedding board (I am not engaged) into the early hours if I’m not careful. It’s a novel idea, that might put an end to countless bookmarks on your toolbar, and in theory keep all your ideas for that ‘project you’ve been meaning to start’ in one place. Here are some beautiful images, from fine art, to maps and illustration that I’ve pinned on our new Globe Inspiration Board…
Oops is it 2 o’clock already?

It’s beautiful, clear, crisp morning in north London, and we’re excited.
In just five days the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt starts, and we are part of the fun. The big egg hunt itself runs for 40 days and 40 nights and launches on Shrove Tuesday (21st February 2012). It features 200 eggs made by unique artists, from fashion to graphics, fine artists and well… globemakers!
In the picture of our studio (above) you can spot the naked egg – delivered to us to decorate as we see fit… what creative freedom! We decided to adorn the egg in our signature Britannia globe style maps, and Peter and his team of artists worked hard day and night to fit the gores by hand to the shape. It is such a beautiful piece! Of the other 199 artists we have seen a few exquisite eggsamples (oops) and they are all wonderful works of art. Here is a snap shot of the globe just as it was drying from it’s final coat of varnish, topped with a finishing touch of gold leaf.
The event is truly inspirational and hopes to raise over £1million for its charities – the Elephant Family and Action for Children. If you are in London in the next few weeks, round up the troops, shell out (sorry, couldn’t resist) for a treasure hunt map and get cracking on those clues. Last one there’s a rotten egg! Sorry I’ll stop now…
